Previously called Wesley Chapel Rock, The Gardens combined forces with a Dade City store around October of 2023 so that they have two locations to serve customers from. While they both carry bulk rock, like loose gravel, the Dade City location operates more as the nursery, carrying a huge supply of plants including aquatic plats. While they’re only about 10-11 miles apart (a 20 minutes drive), when looking for accent boulders and landscaping boulders, make sure you end up at the Wesley Chapel spot, which has a sprawling area for large individual and palletized stone.
The Gardens Nursery - Wesley Chapel is a distributor for Aquascape so they stock all kinds of pond products from filters to pond lights to pumps and tons of different accessories that are needed to run the piping or tubing and connect the hardware. Most of the large rocks offered by retailers on our list sell large stones that work well for pond builds. This stone company also sells some aquarium related products in addition to live fish such as freshwater species and koi fish. This location sells some outdoor pottery too.
The staff at The Gardens works well as a team, covering a large square footage of space, and they’re all very knowledgeable and do an excellent job of handling the customer flow in all the times that I’ve been there. Most rock items don’t display prices, so the employees will gladly walk the yard with you, providing pricing and offering helpful backstories for any curious questions you have about the natural stones and their primary uses or origins. The lack of pricing can be helpful for contractors who want to bring clients to the site and work with them to pick their own stone. If needed, The Gardens will offer deliveries for nearly all of Florida Monday through Saturday with pricing based on distance and materials. Calling first thing in the morning for a delivery on the same week can help secure the time slot you want.
Pricing on their stone inventory is more affordable than others on this list and they offer very competitive discounts for commercial accounts. With a great assortment shown online, such as multiple varieties of flagstone, fieldstone, and river rounds, the best experience is had in person, plus (like with all mentions on the list) new inventory moves in and out frequently. There is an e-commerce store built into their website that allows for online ordering of landscaping items like mulch, plants, and trees, plus certain types of aggregate but many rock types are excluded. The well rounded assortment of products makes this spot a great source for pond supplies as well as a quality landscape supplier for fill dirt, crushed shell, and other materials of that nature.

Big Earth is a rustic rock store full of knowledgeable, helpful staff. At times, a stroll around the property may not yield the most extensive assortment of rocks and boulders, but Big Earth has four locations in addition to their Tampa one. What isn’t available at one site can be delivered from another location with ease. The stores have constant communication, at times being able to share images and measurements of boulder types while the customers wait. So as long as your deadline is not the same day, their shared inventory makes for a huge benefit to the customer base.
While pond supplies are not an additional sales item at this store, they do sell sod, mulch, soil, and some minimal pavers. Some of the staff are experienced with serving pond owners and pond installers. The company started over 40 years ago by selling landscape materials. Their site has an online store where you can purchase irrigation equipment, tools, and all types of landscaping items for businesses or homeowners.
One of the areas that Big Earth excels in is delivery. They have a firm grasp on pricing and scheduling, including transport between the stores as often as necessary. They deliver outside of Florida and have affordable prices for local deliveries and boulder or pallet placement on your site.
This retailer tends to carry less premium or specialty rocks than other stores but their assortment and accessibility to natural stones among their multiple locations is plentiful. They even stock some large boulders which are priced by the size (length and width) as opposed to weight which can be very advantageous. This pricing style is rare among other stone stores in the Tampa Bay Area and can generate a lot of savings when shopping for larger items, such as 3 foot or 4 foot pieces. It also allows for a speedier shopping experience because pricing for these types can be determined with a measuring tape as opposed to weighing them individually. Like most rock outlets, Big Earth sells many stone varieties by the cubic yard and full pallets.

Carroll’s is one of the most robust bulk landscape operations on our list. While not technically in Tampa, they are off Interstate 275 in St. Petersburg, Florida and their delivery area fully covers the Tampa region as well as Pinellas County and further. If you’ve driven down this stretch, you may have seen their old cement silo which has a cool face painted on the side, gazing at the passing cars on the interstate. Impressively, they’ve been in business at this location since 1965. Originally started as a rock and gravel company, they have successfully expanded into a number of branches of the industry.
They offer concrete mixing and pouring services for large commercial and small residential properties anywhere in Florida as well as concrete block and masonry supplies. In nearly any amount, they sell soil, mulch, and shell. They’re able to fill sandbags on site, even doing so for businesses that want to use their own branded bags. They carry a good amount of miscellaneous but related goods for certain trades, including AC slabs, stucco materials, and rebar.
Their property is large and has a railway entrance because they receive some of their bulk items delivered by train. Another portion comes overseas by boat as well as truck deliveries. This allows them to have one of the largest product assortments in the area. While all shops on this list manage their own deliveries, Carroll’s Building Materials has a trucking fleet which helps them offer same day deliveries allowing for maximum convenience when customers are in need. They sell their products in the same manner, offering bags, pallets, truckloads and even trains full of rock/stone. Because of their size, it’s a no-brainer that they provide aggregate material to large commercial businesses across the US, but they maintain a great relationship with small local clientele as well. The customer split may be about 50/50 for commercial and retail clients.
Like all of the stores on our Top 5 Stone Suppliers list, setting up a commercial account is relatively easy and quick. At Carroll’s it can be done through email or in person by providing your business details. Some companies offer a blanket discount on all items for contractors but Carroll’s system is more like bulk pricing in which anybody can get discounted pricing when buying enough material. They also have a helpful tool on their website that allows you to request pricing for most of the rock types that they sell. They typically follow up with a quote by email within 24 hours for these online requests. The last great feature we want to mention that can be immensely helpful to companies bidding jobs is the ability to hold your boulders for one or even sometimes two weeks. Once a large natural stone is pulled and weighed, it can be taken off the lot and stored without payment or deposit. If not purchased within that time frame, it gets moved back.

This place has been in business since 1990 and was acquired by SiteOne in 2021 but kept their original name and just added some of the SiteOne branding. We won’t get into too much detail about their parent company here, but will say that it is a publicly traded company out of Georgia that operates more than 700 stores across the US and Canada. By some metrics, SiteOne is the biggest national wholesale distributor for landscape supplies with a large focus in hardscape materials, especially at certain locations like Seffner Rock. This location boasts an expansive site that occupies nearly three acres in Seffner which is a suburb of Tampa, about a 20 minute drive east of downtown
They stock a very large assortment of rocks with massive stalls for some of their bulk stone. Additionally they carry sand, base (like crushed asphalt or bases for masonry purposes), mulch, pine straw, dirt, and soil in a bunch of styles. Their boulder collection is also impressive as it contains plenty of varieties to choose from and all types of sizes. Their palletized stone can be broken down and sold by the half pallet, quarter pallet, or even single layer. Like Carroll’s they can sometimes offer same day delivery when things line up correctly. Besides the large rock inventory, Seffner also carries tools, landscaping supplies and accessories, and a wide selection of concrete specialty items for contractors such as colors stains and sealers. ,
Delivery for pond boulders and bulk stone covers a larger perimeter and is priced based on the delivery zip code. They’ll gladly deliver outside of Hillsborough to Pinellas, Pasco, and Manatee counties among others. For their in-house team (more than 5 trucks) they require at least 3 cubic yards to be ordered (usually of one material) for delivery to be made available. Unfortunately for retail clients, this is the only shop in our top 5 that is closed on the weekends. Deliveries also run Monday through Friday only. Their delivery service does not offer placement of large stones, but they partner with a local guy who they’ll refer to for these types of jobs. Unlike Carroll’s, holding large natural stones is not an option unless they are purchased.
Their website contains an extensive library of photographs and it’s clear they’ve put in extra time to represent their inventory and especially the various sizes as best they can. They claim to keep it up to date so it’s only showing what is available in the yard at any given time.

Tampa Bay Ponds and Rocks keeps a more refined selection of stones, rocks, and boulders. Ordinary and wholesale customers frequent the retail shop which hosts several display ponds and waterfalls, numerous fountains, and a sizable assortment of aquarium and pond related products along with live fish for sale. A number of their pondless fountains are running which helps shoppers see the product in action. In their showroom, they offer Aquascape pond supplies as well as many other brands.
While their large stones can be used for nearly any purpose, they have a lot of specialty products, making it a great choice for clients who are very particular, who are searching for unique rocks, and who want to demonstrate that they have gone to great lengths to find stones that are out of the ordinary. For instance, they have a rotating assortment of highly decorative boulders, almost like artwork, that need to be placed or positioned in a certain way, rather than rolled off a flatbed. Some of their more sought after selection would work very well for purposes beyond just landscaping rocks such as part of an interior decoration project or on a lanai, by a fire pit or as part of a grand entryway to a magnificent property.
Tampa Bay Ponds also carries smaller decorative types such as colored glass rocks, gemstones, and black obsidian, among many others. They offer flagstone and other large caprock, including natural rocks like Tennessee River Rock (one of the cheapest per pound) up to Texas Holey Rock (one of the most expensive by weight) in all different sizes. Delivery of their larger boulders usually has a 1-2 day lead time and is priced by the mileage can also come with extra costs depending on the load. Based on the schedule and location, they are able to place boulders on most sites with advance notice and for an additional fee. Deliveries to Naples, FL (175 miles away) are made but given the price by mileage, it may not be your best option for long distances unless you’ve selected a highly specialized rock that isn’t easily obtained from other outlets. As a bonus, they even sell multiple types of large fake rocks which can be used as cover for pond and landscaping jobs. As noted here, one of the major draws to this option is their broad assortment. Their inventory is not run-of-the-mill and they also stock a large variety of pond and water-feature based items that can make this a helpful one-stop-shop for certain trips.
Their store is located in Dunedin which is on the West coast of Florida, North of Clearwater. They've been at this location for 23 years and are owned and run by the Ruiz family who started the business.
